Meet the Staff

Paula Krause - Owner

Several years ago Paula decided to make a dramatic change in careers and follow her life's dream:  She left the investment banking business to become a veterinary technician.  With that leap of faith, she embarked on a course that would change her forever.

Veterinary nursing introduced Paula to the emerging field of canine behavior.  The more dogs she met at the veterinary hospital where she worked the more she realized that the need exists for professionals who can offer sound advice on behavior problems such as socialization, separation anxiety, dominance and just plain good manners.  In her quest for more knowledge in the field, she started formal studies and began attending numerous lectures and seminars.  One seminar in particular was hosted by Maritime Pet Kennel in Tarpon Springs, Florida.  Bill and Kelly Ann Conway, the owners of Maritime and pioneers in the doggie daycare business, were eager to share their extensive experience with Paula in helping with the establishment of a similar facility here in Georgia.  It has been proven that day care for dogs is successful in curbing certain behaviors such as anxiety, shyness and even fear of humans and other dogs and that appealed to Paula's interest in solving behavior problems as well as providing dogs with an alternative to crates, ties and lonely backyards.  Two years later, it became a reality!

Lisa Post - General Manager

In late 2008, Paula received a phone call from the owner of a local competitor who was closing her business due to personal reasons.  She called to tell Paula about her Manager, Lisa.  She said that Lisa was every "business owner's dream."  A few short months later, there was an opening at DDC and Paula remembered that phone call.  A meeting was arranged, and Lisa joined the DDC staff as its General Manager in Spring 2009.  She has the overall responsibility for the safety and well-being of the dogs and the staff.  She also oversees the cleaning and maintenance of the facility.  She's a bit of a "clean-freak" and that's a very good thing at a doggie daycare.

There's never been a time in Lisa's life when she wasn't surrounded by animals.  Growing up they came in two's - two cockers, two bassets and pairs of horses and goats.  She is an avid gardener as well as a busy wife and mother of - what else - two children.

And that description of Lisa?  Well, it was no exaggeration!  She's everywhere at once, never gets flustered, is a great leader, and LOVES dogs!

Donna Wilson - Receptionist

Donna joined Doggie Day Care in the fall of 2003.  Having grown up with Great Danes, this diminutive fireball is no more intimidated by a Bull Mastiff than by a Chihuahua. She wanted to work with animals, but never dreamed of finding such a wonderful job. Her love for dogs is apparent when you see her playing chase with dogs twice her size or when she carries around a 70 pound Weimaraner like a baby.   She walks in with a smile first thing in the morning and out with one dirty outfit by the end of the day!

Donna earned her Pet Care Technician certification from the Pet Care Services Association (formerly the American Boarding Kennel Association) in 2008.

Donna now performs dual roles here at DDC.  She not only continues to work and play with the dogs, she is also the "happy morning face" at the front desk.

Amby Jordan - Canine Care Coordinator and A.M. Supervisor

Before joining the crew at DDC, Amby worked at Lafayette Center Animal Hospital for a several years. She started work at DDC in 2006 and has loved it ever since. Amby has always loved dogs no matter the shape, size or color. You can never catch her outside in the yards playing fetch without a smile and she absolutely adores Jack Russells. Having two herself, Skooter and Gracie, you know that a pair of jacks is a full house, but her level-headed personality keeps them well mannered and behaved.

Amby has a very special role here at DDC.  Not only is she our primary "socializer" for the new attendees, she also cares for all of our "special needs" dogs (e.g. our elderly guests, convalescent dogs, etc.)

Ashley Washington

Ashley began her career at DDC back in high school, when she worked after school and on weekends.  After graduating in 2008, she joined the DDC staff full time.  Ashley throws the meanest fast ball known to man, which is the best thing according to the dogs. She will spend hours upon hours jogging around and throwing the ball across the entire yard. You will sometimes see her dog Bruno running around and helping her clean. Ashley is a great asset and the dogs love her because she can throw the ball 100 feet.

Karen Lewis

Karen's life has been full of animals. She grew up with everything ...except birds. She lived in Massachusetts for quite some time and volunteered at the Buddy Dog Humane Society. Working as a chemist for Polaroid for many years, Karen decided that the corporate world did not enthuse her much anymore so she decided make a big change and move to Georgia where her family lives. She wanted a job that would be fun and involve animals so she came knocking at out door.  She joined us during Spring Break '08 and is now a Supervisor.  Karen's genuine affection for our furkids is apparent; she always has a large group around her whenever she's here.

Kyaira Hutchings

Kyaira (Kiki) joined DDC in the summer of 2008.  Kiki is our "party girl" - she throws the best doggie birthday parties ever!  Kiki earned her Pet Care Technician in 2009 and is currently working on her Level II certification.

Kiki loves all dogs but we believe her true affection is with the little guys since she is the mommy of an adoreable Pomeranian names Peaches.  for her 14th birthday, Kiki's mom took her to the pet shop to buy her a rabbit.  When Kiki spotted tiny baby Peaches, all talk of rabbits went away,  Kiki's mom didn't have a change with Kiki's pleads for this precious pup.  We're grateful to Peaches for introducing Kiki into the wonderful world of dogs.  If she hadn't, Kiki would probably be working at a rabbit farm!
